SUMMARY:Contribution of the Green Deal Call Projects to the Nature Restorat
 ion Law
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a webinar which will showcase the contribution of M
ERLIN\,REST-COAST\, SUPERB and WaterLANDS\, four of the projects funded by
the Horizon 2020 Green Deal Call aimed at restoring biodiversity and ecos
ystem services\, to the development and implementation of the Nature Resto
ration Law (NRL)\, adopted by the European Council on 17 June 2024.\n\nCon
text\nThis webinar aims to showcase the contribution of the projects MERLI
N\, REST-COAST\, SUPERB and WaterLANDS to the development and implementati
on of the Nature Restoration Law. More importantly\, the webinar aims to p
rovide other EU-funded projects the opportunity to get an insight into how
projects can concretely contribute to the policy making process\, what ch
allenges should be addressed on the way\, and what might be the best drive
rs to facilitate the process.\nThe four projects are funded under the H202
0 Green Deal Call topic LC-GD-7-1-2020 and collaborate as a cluster on eco
system restoration\, as well as part of the Green Deal Call Projects Suppo
rt Office (GD-SO)'s Climate Change and Biodiversity Working Group. All fou
r projects are working to develop and demonstrate methodologies for large-
scale restoration of different European ecosystems and their biodiversity.
\nIn this webinar\, the projects will describe and share their experience
on how they collaborated to put together a joint document with comments in
response to the consultation on the Nature Restoration Law. The document
provided views on the law as a whole\, as well as comments and remarks rel
ated to specific articles (for details\, see here). The projects will also
illustrate how they engaged to this end with the different policy units.
This will be done by means of a panel discussion which will also see the i
nvolvement of speakers from other European and international organisations
.\n\nFurther reading\nThe work of the biodiversity projects was also featu
red in an Independent Expert Report for the European Commission (see here)
and in an article on the journal Science (here - Securing success for the
Nature Restoration Law\, Hering et al.\, Science 382:6676\, pp. 1248-1250
 \, 14 December 2023).\n\n\n \n Find out more and register\n \n
