NbS Italy Hub Arrives at COP 30

These days, COP30 on climate change is taking place in Belém, Brazil, the international forum organized by the United Nations to discuss mitigation and adaptation strategies. COP30 brings together governments, scientific institutions, international organizations, and local stakeholders, aiming to share knowledge, promote global agreements, and identify concrete actions to limit global warming.

In this context, Nature-Based Solutions (NbS) are key tools for making cities more resilient and carbon neutral. They help reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve water management and urban air quality, enhance green spaces, and increase citizens’ well-being, generating tangible and measurable environmental, social, and economic benefits.

We are proud to announce that today, November 12, 2025, as part of this initiative, the workshop “Nature-Based Solutions for Resilient and Carbon Neutral Cities” is being held, organized by the SUR Lab of Bocconi University in collaboration with NbS Italy Hub and UN-Habitat. The workshop will host representatives from Bocconi University, the Metropolitan City of Milan, and the Polytechnic University of Turin, all partners of the Hub, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Environment and Energy Security, ISPRA, and UN-Habitat.

The workshop will provide a platform to discuss Italian and European experiences, focusing on planning tools, funding models, and result monitoring systems.

The participation of NbS Italy Hub marks a major achievement for Italy, recognizing the central role of the Hub in promoting NbS as essential tools to build more resilient and carbon-neutral cities.

During the meeting, Cinzia Davoli, Head of the Sustainable Development and Decision Support Systems Service of the Metropolitan City of Milan and member of the Board of Directors of NbS Italy Hub, will present our structure and its importance at the national and European level, highlighting how it contributes to showcasing Italian NbS expertise and promoting dialogue between science, institutions, and territories to build more sustainable and resilient cities.

Through this participation, NbS Italy Hub consolidates its role as the national reference platform for NbS, promoting Italian know-how and fostering dialogue between science, institutions, and territories to build more sustainable and resilient cities.
