On March 30, 2026, from 09:30 to 13:00, the UNI Milan Office will host an event dedicated to Nature-based Solutions (NbS). The day is focused on the presentation of the new European standard EN 18140, a common reference for Nature-based Solutions. The meeting is organised by UNI (UNI Italian Standardisation Body: the national organisation that develops and publishes voluntary technical standards to define requirements, methods, and best practices shared by companies, professionals, and public administrations) in collaboration with NbS Italy Hub and ICESP, and aims to create a bridge between technical standardisation, applied research, businesses, and public administration. The EN 18140 standard was developed within CEN TC 465/WG01, with the support of UNI and coordination by Cnr Iret. Particular attention will be given to the concrete experiences of the NbS Italy Hub, which will present examples of best practices and projects in the territory. The program includes participation from Hub partner organisations, including CNR IRET, CMCC Foundation – Euro-Mediterranean Centre on Climate Change, University of Turin, and Metropolitan City of Milan, with interventions dedicated to technical standardisation, the role of insurance and investments, and practical applications on the ground. The event will be held in person, is free upon registration, and is subject to available seating. It is sponsored by NATURANCE (CMCC Foundation) and is under the patronage of CONAF, CNGeGL, and CNAPPC.
