On September 25–26, 2025, an international conference will be held in Aarhus, Denmark, focusing on nature-based solutions, with a special emphasis on integrated and place-based approaches for sustainable urban and coastal development. Hosted at the city hall, the event will offer two days of meetings, workshops, and discussions involving representatives from public administrations, researchers, technical experts, and local stakeholders interested in innovative water resource management, climate adaptation, and ecological regeneration.
The conference will serve as a concrete moment of exchange, showcasing tools, case studies, and methodologies for the effective implementation of NbS at urban and regional scales. A detailed program will be available in the months leading up to the event.
The conference is organized as part of the European project City Blues – Urban blue-green corridors for sustainable stormwater and biodiversity management, co-funded by the Interreg Baltic Sea Region 2021–2027 programme. The project brings together cities, research institutions, and environmental agencies from across the Baltic Sea region with the goal of integrating blue and green solutions to enhance urban resilience and improve local ecosystem quality. City Blues develops practical tools and supports local authorities in rethinking stormwater management through multifunctional ecological corridors, actively involving local communities. The Aarhus conference marks one of the key transnational exchange moments of the project.
