Seeds of Change: Citizens Growing Nature-Based Futures
Naturethon is back! After the success of the first edition and the parallel Naturethon+ series, the second edition of this Naturance citizen engagement initiative kicks off. Naturethon brings citizens together to explore Nature-based Solutions (NbS) and foster meaningful dialogue between communities.
Event Overview
Davide Michielin, Science Outreach Manager of the RAAS Division at the Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change (CMCC), will coordinate the initiative. Following last year’s success (30 projects and around 300 participants), the structure of this edition has been revised to guide participants even more closely in planning NbS projects.
The initiative consists of three online events, each including:
- A theoretical session led by researchers from across Europe.
- A practical session where participants complete specific tasks and collaborate via digital boards (Miro board).
The initiative is conducted in English and is organized in partnership with the European Climate Pact Ambassadors.
Kick-off Meeting
The kick-off meeting coincides with the first online event, scheduled for October 9. Project submissions are due by December 1. The top three projects will receive a small recognition, and one representative from each winning project will be invited to the Finance Innovation Festival in Brussels, from February 3–5, 2026.
Session Highlights
- Andrea Staccione (CMCC) will dive into NbS, explaining what they are, their benefits, and real-world applications.
- Luciana Favaro (Climate Pact Ambassador & EuCliPa.IT president) will share inspiring stories and best practices of citizen engagement in local decision-making.
After the presentations, participants will join a 45-minute collaborative work session using an online Miro board to start developing their own NbS ideas.
