The call for expressions of interest is now open for the residential transdisciplinary workshop RiViVe – Rethinking the Diversity of Life, funded under the National Biodiversity Future Center (NBFC).
The workshop will take place from 13 to 18 October in a residential format in Collelongo (AQ), Abruzzo, at a forest site of the Long-Term Ecological Research Network (LTER Italy). It is open to participants from a variety of backgrounds, not only from research and academia, but also from management and educational fields such as museums, cultural and artistic institutions, territorial planning and management bodies, civic associations and local networks, with the goal of fostering shared actions and synergies through diverse perspectives.
The workshop will explore – both theoretically and practically – key biodiversity topics addressed by the NBFC, such as the classification of living organisms, biodiversity monitoring and indicators, ecosystem restoration, and the interpretation and representation of transformative processes needed for sustainable societies. These topics will be tackled through a transdisciplinary approach, where theoretical reflection emerges from in-depth, field-based collaboration across disciplines.
Participants will be guided by a transdisciplinary team of experts from various domains – natural sciences, ecology, anthropology, social studies, the arts, science museums, and science communication – who will coordinate the activities and lead participants in exploring less conventional modes of scientific inquiry.
Participation is free of charge, and accommodation and meals are fully covered. Applications are open until 16 May, with a maximum of 20 participants.
The official project page includes the full call document and the link to the application form.
