Smart and Sustainable Planning for Cities and Regions (SSPCR 2025) will take place from December 9 to 12, 2025, at Eurac Research, within the NOI Techpark in Bolzano/Bozen. Now in its tenth edition, the conference is recognized as an international reference point for the debate on urban and regional planning from a sustainable and digital perspective. SSPCR serves as an interdisciplinary platform that fosters dialogue between scientific research, policy-making, and operational practices, promoting the integration of theoretical knowledge and practical implementation.

The 2025 edition will focus on identifying and discussing innovative strategies aimed at urban resilience, socio-spatial equity, and environmental responsibility, with the overarching goal of contributing to the transition towards smarter, more sustainable, and inclusive cities and regions.

The scientific committee welcomes contributions from a broad range of disciplines, including urban and regional planning, environmental and social sciences, economics, transportation, engineering, energy studies, computer science, geomatics, and other related fields. Participation is open in two formats: oral presentations and digital posters. Oral presentations, organized within thematic sessions, will allow researchers and practitioners to share scientific findings, experimental projects, or replicable practices, and will be published in the official conference handbook. Digital posters, suitable for exploratory research or concise formats, will be presented in dedicated sessions and made available on the conference’s digital platform, subject to the authors’ approval.

The conference’s thematic areas include: the energy transition towards urban climate neutrality; adaptive and regenerative approaches for cities and regions; sustainable mobility systems as strategic infrastructures; transformative governance practices aimed at spatial justice; tools and models for assessing the economic dimensions of the urban transition; circular economy strategies for territorial systems; and the use of data and artificial intelligence to support planning and decision-making processes.

SSPCR 2025 represents a strategic opportunity for academic, institutional, and professional stakeholders to exchange knowledge, reflect on the progress achieved over the past decade, and contribute to shaping a shared vision for the future of cities and territories.

The deadline for abstract submission, for both oral presentations and digital posters, is August 3rd, 2025.
