As part of the NbS Annual Meeting 2025, “From Planning to Action: A Summer School on Urban NbS for Professionals and Academics” will take place on July 10th and 11th, 2025, at Educafé, within the Leonardo Campus of Politecnico di Milano.
This advanced training initiative is specifically designed for public administration officials, managers and technicians, local authorities, professionals, and early-career researchers involved in urban planning and territorial regeneration processes.
The Summer School aims to provide public administrations with a solid theoretical and practical framework for effectively and systematically integrating NbS into urban and territorial policies. In the face of growing environmental, social, and economic challenges, NbS represent strategic tools to foster more resilient and livable cities. However, their implementation requires specific skills, adequate decision-making tools, inclusive governance models, and sustainable funding strategies, all of which will be addressed during the Summer School.
The program will open on July 9th with a field activity, an NbS Tour in the Milan metropolitan area, organized in collaboration with the NbS Italy Hub, offering participants the opportunity to explore real-world applications of NbS. The training sessions on July 10th and 11th will alternate between theoretical lectures, hands-on workshops, collaborative discussions, group exercises, and roundtables with international experts.
Participants will gain concrete tools to integrate NbS into urban plans and regulations, improve access to public and private funding, enhance decision-making capacity, and build professional networks capable of supporting the urban ecological transition.
