As part of the 41st World Congress of the International Association for Hydro-Environment Engineering and Research (IAHR), which will be held in Singapore from June 22 to 27, the workshop “Nature-based Solutions: Connecting Science and Practice” is scheduled for Wednesday, June 25, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM in Room 13.

The theme of the 2025 IAHR Congress, “Innovative Water Engineering for Sustainable Development,” aims to promote interdisciplinary dialogue, the exchange of cutting-edge knowledge, and the exploration of innovative solutions to tackle the most pressing global water resource management challenges.

In this context, the workshop will provide an interactive platform focused on NbS (Nature-based Solutions) and their application, highlighting key factors for successful implementation, including funding, governance, and co-design processes and stages. Through the analysis of case studies—such as Bishan Park in Singapore, the Severn Valley, and Project Groundwater in the United Kingdom—participants will gain deeper insight into the operational and strategic dynamics behind the planning and execution of these initiatives.

The session will actively involve participants and offer an opportunity to reflect on the importance of stakeholder engagement, the design and development phases of NbS, and the efforts required to ensure their effectiveness. It will also serve as a moment to share pioneering experiences and research, aiming to strengthen the connection between scientific research and field practice.
